NeedsList PBC ("NeedsList") operates the NeedsList platform. It is NeedsList's policy to respect your privacy regarding any  information we may collect while operating our website.

This policy explains how we process your information.

Except as otherwise noted in this Privacy Policy, NeedsList is a data controller (as that term is used under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”)), which means that we decide how and why the information you provide to us is processed. This Policy may be amended or updated from time to time to reflect changes in our practices with respect to the Processing of your information, or changes in applicable law. We may process: your personal details (e.g., your name); your contact details (e.g., your email address); purchase or other details regarding claiming of needs on our site; information about your interactions with our content or advertising; and any content you directly share with us through the site.

We may also Process information about you from your use of our Services (e.g., the type of device you are using, the internet service provider, etc.), including your interactions with content and advertising on the Services.

There are two types of users on the NeedsList platform: registered users, who create user accounts that are password protected; and unregistered users who can claim needs anonymously. Here’s the information we collect about both types of users:

Registered Users:

-Orders: what you purchased or claimed, when, and for which groups 

-Your IP address, which is a unique string of numbers automatically assigned to your device whenever you access the Internet.


Unregistered users:

For users who do not create an account or register for the site but who claim a need through our site, we collect the following information:

-Email address

-Orders: what you purchased or claimed, when, and for which groups

-Your IP address, which is a unique string of numbers automatically assigned to your device whenever you access the Internet.

 

For both registered and unregistered users, we share your email address with the associated NGO so they can provide you with donation receipts for tax purposes.

    • Data you provide: We may obtain your Personal Information when you claim a need on the site or otherwise interact with our site (e.g., where you sign up for emails, newsletters, register for the site or create a profile; contact us via email, telephone or by any other means; or when you provide us with your business card, etc.).

    • Relationship data: We may collect or obtain your Personal Information in the ordinary course of our relationship with you (e.g., if you purchase something from the site).

    • Data you make public: We may collect or obtain your Personal Information that you clearly choose to make public, including via social media (e.g., we may collect information from your social media profile(s) if you make a public post about us).

    • Service data: We may collect or obtain your Personal Information when you visit, use or register to use any part of our service.

4. The purposes for which we process information about, subject to applicable law

  1. Provision of the Services to You: providing the Services to you from NeedsList or its partners including (i) management of your account, and (ii) customer support and relationship management, (iii) providing you with information on items you have purchased, donations you have made or volunteer tasks you have claimed

  2. Communications: communicating with you via any means (including via email, telephone, text message, social media, post or in person) regarding updates and other information in which you may be interested, subject to ensuring that such communications are provided to you in compliance with applicable law; maintaining and updating your contact information where appropriate; and obtaining your prior, opt-in consent where required.

  3. Advertising: providing advertising based on your interests and interactions with the Services and Channels, including using User Information to serve you advertisements on the Services and Channels, as well as licensing segments of User Information to third parties.

  4. User Engagement and Purchases: tracking purchase traffic and activity across the Service and on Channels; provision of analytics and measurement of cost of traffic against money being made.

  5. Identification and mitigation of fraudulent activity; and compliance with legal requirements.

  6. Security: electronic security measures (including monitoring of login records and access details) to help mitigate the risk of and provide the ability to identify and rectify a security incident.

  7. Financial Management: general business and financial management purposes, including: financial and administrative management; planning and reporting; personnel development; sales; accounting; finance; corporate audit; and compliance with legal requirements

9. Legal Proceedings: establishing, exercising and defending legal rights.

Legal Compliance: Subject to applicable law, we reserve the right to release information concerning any user of Services when we have grounds to believe that the user is in violation of our Terms of Use or other published guidelines or has engaged in (or we have grounds to believe is engaging in) any illegal activity, and to release information in response to court and governmental orders, other requests from government entities, civil subpoenas, discovery requests and otherwise as required by law or regulatory obligations. We also may release information about users when we believe in good faith that such release is in the interest of protecting the rights, property, safety or security of NeedsList, any of our users or the public, or to respond to an emergency.

5. Legal bases for processing information

We may process your user information where: you have given your consent, the processing is necessary to provide you with a receipt for items purchased on our platform, so that the NGO receiving the items or the services you have volunteered to provide can contact you directly, where the processing is required by applicable law, or where we have a valid legitimate interest in the processing.

7. Transfer of personal data across international lines

NeedsList PBC is an international organization and as such, we transfer personal data across international lines. Such transfers are only done if the following conditions are complied with:

  • Transfers are on the basis of adequacy

  • Transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards

  • Binding corporate rules apply

 

8. Your Rights

9. Business Transfers
If NeedsList, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that NeedsList goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of NeedsList may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.

Ads appearing on any of our websites may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies.
